Adventure Ecology has developed a
diverse and engaging ‘intellectual diet’ for
students which emphasises investigation, exploration and
problem solving, rather than memorising and storing facts.
Educational materials delivered through an engaging and
exciting learning platform, include information that is
neither intimidating nor lecturing, but informative and
relevant to young people. Collaboration and interaction
are integral to the site, as students are encouraged to
be active contributors, as opposed to passive receivers
of information
Differentiated learning
Curriculum presentation and learning activities are differentiated,
and highlight the importance of understanding different
thinking habits, value creation, fun and constructivist
learning theory. These learning approaches encapsulate the
ethos of Adventure Ecology: to encourage young people to
use knowledge to design better ways forward and effective
change. Like the ‘real life’ trek across the
Arctic region, the learning is also a fun and exciting adventure.
Cutting edge online environment Online mediums and text types that students relate
to are incorporated with content which is contemporary and
relevant to young people, as well as learning activities
that are presented in an exciting, fun and easy to understand
format. The interactive learning environment features structured
learning activities that assist students and teachers alike
to make informed decisions about issues surrounding environmental
and social sustainability.
